The Southern Regional Police Department now
accepts prescription medications for disposal year around. We do not accept syringes or needles (sharps).
The department has acquired a Drop Off Box courtesy of the York County
Solid Waste Authority to secure medications to be destroyed in
conjunction with the DEA Drug Take Back initiative.
The box is located in the lobby of the police department and people may
drop off unused or outdated prescriptions during regular business hours.
The year around acceptance allows citizens to get the medications out of
their house and secure without having to wait for scheduled dates.
All medications will be secured for disposal and no questions of name,
etc. will be asked.
Pennsylvania’s Right-to-Know Law, Act 3 of 2008, establishes the
proper procedures for requesting records from state, local,
legislative, and judicial agencies. The Right-to-Know Act, a citizen’s
guide, and other information can be viewed on the Pennsylvania Office of
Open Records website at: http://openrecords.state.pa.us
